AgriChemWhey workshop in Charleroi, Belgium

The EU-funded project AgriChemWhey aims at tackling the whey disposal issues faced by the milk industry. The project focuses on converting whey low value residues into high value bio-based chemicals at industrial scale, including lactic acid and polylactic acid for packaging.

In the framework of the conferences, AgriChemWhey is holding a workshop, in collaboration with the EU KARMA2020 project around the potential to build symbiotic agro-industrial value chains in Wallonia and thus replicate the projects in the region. Through this workshop, both projects are willing to interact with local stakeholders in Wallonia and from abroad to disseminate good practices, to connect the agro-food and polymer industry sector and to eventually valorise agro-food waste into high added value molecules.

The workshop is meant for anyone willing to contribute to the building of such a symbiotic agricultural and industrial value chain, i.e. agro-food industries facing issues related to waste and/or packaging; technology provider for biomass transformation, polymer industry or anyone willing to support the local bio-based economy. It is open to Walloon players and other stakeholders aiming at opportunities for collaborations in Belgium.
