Official EU Launch of the AGRICHEMWHEY Project

On the 26th of April the EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, officially announced the award of €22 million in grant funding from the BBI-JU for the AGRICHEMWHEY project, which is the first of its kind being provided to the dairy industry in the world. This event took place at the EU Commission in Ireland, Dublin and included several other speakers including Michael Creed, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Philippe Mengal, Executive Director of the BBI JU, Julie Sinnamon, CEO Enterprise Ireland, Prof. Mark Ferguson, Director General, Science Foundation Ireland, Jim Bergin, CEO, Glanbia Ireland and Gerard Kiely, Head of the European Commission Representation in Ireland . This packed out event provided an overview of the project, its objectives and the benefits for the dairy industry, and how it supports the Irish government’s goal of ensuring Ireland is at the forefront of the nascent bioeconomy sector.
